Tarzana Treatment Centers Receives DHCS Infrastructure Award for Antelope Valley Behavioral Healthcare Expansion

Dec 23, 2022

The California Department of Health Care Services funding will allow TTC to construct a new outpatient facility for youth and their families in Lancaster.

Tarzana, California Dec 22, 2022 (Issuewire.com) - Tarzana Treatment Centers Inc. received notification that its proposed expansion of Youth Outpatient Services in the Antelope Valley was among 54 projects selected for funding by the California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS). The development is being funded as part of the DHCS Behavioral Health Continuum Infrastructure Program (BHCIP). Round 4 of this program's funding campaign focuses on Children and Youth Grants.

In December 2022, Governor Gavin Newsom announced $480.5 million in awards for 54 projects to improve California's behavioral health infrastructure for children and youth.

As Governor Newsome said, "We are overhauling our mental health system to connect young Californians with the care and support they need. Too many Californians are struggling with mental illness and substance abuse. This funding will support critical mental health and substance use disorder treatment facilities that have committed to serving the diverse range of children and youth covered by Medi-Cal."

Expanding Youth Outpatient Services in the Antelope Valley

TTC's expansion project will significantly help communities in the Antelope Valley and the greater area of Los Angeles County. The new grant funds a construction project that will supply outpatient services for youth and their families. The 2,572-square-foot addition bolsters an existing 9,983-square-foot 40-bed Youth Residential SUD (substance use disorder) Treatment and Recovery facility. The construction will include staff offices, communal areas, private counseling rooms, and group rooms for patients and their families.

TTC offers a broad array of behavioral healthcare support for youth in Los Angeles County at multiple service sites. In the Antelope Valley, TTC's youth programs include prevention, early intervention, outpatient, and residential SUD treatment. Youth (ages 13-17) and their families can also access integrated mental health and primary medical care services.

With the proposed project, TTC will be able to expand youth outpatient services and provide more intensive treatment options for the local community.

The Integrated Healthcare Model of Tarzana Treatment Centers

TTC was founded on the premise that all people should have access to high-quality healthcare. Thus, TTC is keenly aware of the impact of social determinants on healthcare options. With this grant, the nonprofit organization can offer a full range of outpatient services to youths and their families. Such services will help to address existing disparities in access to behavioral healthcare for young people and improve overall youth health outcomes in the community.
