Small Business Directory Expert Says Standing Out is Key

An expert in local marketing stresses the importance of making local business listings stand out in order to attract new customers.

Arroyo Grande, CA, United States - February 14, 2018 /PressCable/ —

Local business directories have taken the local business culture by storm, but one expert in the field says that unless a small business listing stands out, it may not do much good.

“Too many people are under the impression that all they have to do is create a local business listing and then sit back and wait for the new customers to walk through the door,” says a spokesman from FindUsLocal.com, a free small business directory that utilizes GEO location technology to match the results visitors see with their location. “But if business owners want to reap the maximum results, they need to refine their listings a little.”

He says that in order to create a free business listing that brings in new business, it has to give shoppers the information they need to make a decision about whether or not to visit the store. “Everyone know that they should include their business name, address, phone number, and website, what about the other details that make a local business unique?”

He suggests including things like the hours of operation, special products or services that are unique to the business, menus if it’s a restaurant, and even parking tips to make it easier for shoppers. “The more information you can include, the more likely it is that shoppers will find their way to your store,” he says.

He also says it’s important to keep the small business listing fresh because if it goes stale, it won’t keep its place in the search engine rankings. “The higher a local business listing is in the rankings, the more potential customers will see it,” he says. “And one of the best ways to keep it up there is to continuously ask customers to leave an online review for your business. Once they do, the search engine spiders consider it fresh content, and that helps with the rankings.”

Finally, he wants to remind local business owners that creating a local business listing on a USA small business directory is free. “There’s no reason for small business owners to have to spend thousands of dollars in

" target="_blank">local marketing just to compete with larger stores,” he says. “And that’s why we’ve made our local business listings free to all local shop owners.”

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia — Malaysia's civil aviation chief said Tuesday he has resigned to take responsibility after an independent investigative report highlighted shortcomings in the air traffic control center during Malaysia Airlines Flight 370's disappearance four years ago. The report released Monday raised the possibility that the jet may have been hijacked even though there was no conclusive evidence of why it went off course and flew for over seven hours after severing communications. Azharuddin Abdul Rahman said the report didn't blame the civil aviation department for the plane's loss but found that the Kuala Lumpur air traffic control center...

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia — Manny Pacquiao won by knockout for the first time in nine years to claim the World Boxing Association welterweight title, and made a proclamation. "This is it. I am back in boxing," the 39-year-old Pacquiao said after his seventh-round knockout of Lucas Matthysse on Sunday. "I am not done. I'm still there." It was Pacquiao's first bout since a contentious loss last year to Jeff Horn in Australia, and since parting ways with longtime trainer Freddie Roach to work with Buboy Fernandez.
